The Chay Project was co-founded by Dave Shields, author of the blog The Wayward Word Press. Dave lives in Chappaqua, New York.
Dave attended the Memorial Day Ceremonies in Chappaqua in May 2006, at which the name of SSgt. Kyu Hyuk Chay, a soldier killed in action in Afghanistan in October 2006, was added to the town’s War Memorial.
This project is a direct result of that experience.
The purpose of the project is help the survivors of our Fallen Soldiers to honor their memories and also, we hope, by sharing their experiences with us, help them — and everyone else — deal with the terrible burden that fate has placed on their soldiers.
The project maintains the web site Fallen Soldiers. This site lists the sites created by the project, and it is planned to soon provide guidance on how to build similar sites.
